Compliments to the Chef

This was my final film titled 'Compliments to the Chef'. This was produced in our final year, along with collaborations with the Manchester School of Art, Royal College of Music, and voice actors. The films main protagonist 'Chef' was voiced by Marc Silk, who is known for his work on ITV's Thunderbirds television series and classic cartoon 'Johnny Bravo'. I was a Props Artist for the film, which were modelling minor and hero assets.

Compliments to the Chef was about a chef with abnormalities, which he was a circus act due to his head exploding with every compliment. I produced hero and minor assets for this film in relation to the storyline and it's main protagonist 'Chef'.

This was the original concept for our lion's cage. This was inspired by the Charlie Chaplin film 'The Lions Cage' (https://youtu.be/79i84xYelZI) The colour palette resembled certain asthetics of a toy, and it would bring the modelling details to life.

This included a lions cage. The original version was not used, due to a colour palette decision made by the team. Bulbs were added to the cage, so it would be lit during the scene where chef is kept overnight after his show performance.

This was an original concept for the clown entrance for this project. I used arnold standard surfaces for these models, along with clay presets. This was to bring out the features more effectively; such as the twisted hear and mouth.

This was a minor asset used in the film, which a child was carrying this as a prize from the carnival stalls. The bird is low poly due to being a minor asset, and the bag was altered via the dispersion, opacity, roughness to make it like a plastic bag.

Furthermore, cooking utensils were modelled including lighting and texturing renders. This is a concept which displays an understanding of lights, chrome textures, and overall modelling skills so they all interact with each other accordingly.

In addition, the likes of a colander and cheese grater was used in the story to reflect the main character's background. This is a concept which also displays my ability to model, texture, and light.

This was modelled towards the beginning of the film. It's polycount was reduced for being a background asset, however this gave me an introduction to the use of grunge maps and details for dirt on a model.
